Lego Zipline

My kids love legos and they love pretending and they love inventing.

For the past several months we have been talking about the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. Usually, we read a story from The book, talk about it, and then do a related activity. This morning we were talking about Synergize (the 6th habit). Okay, the reason why we were doing that habit today is because there has been a bit more arguing with the increased strain from the virus quarantine. I thought that a reminder about working together, being a team, and using each other's strengths to help the whole group, was much needed for this morning.

So today we worked together and figured out how to make a miniature lego zipline--complete with seats for two riders and a windshield so the lego people could see during their zipline journey. My youngest daughter created the launching spot, my son put together a ride for the people to get to the launching area, and my oldest daughter built the transport car. About an hour later, a successful lego-sized zipline stretched from the bookshelves to a nearby chair, with the transport and two people zooming happily to the end spot a couple seconds later.

We have many, many unsuccessful moments in homeschool. Truly. But when we have those good experiences where everyone seems to get something out of it, then we count it as a win!
