Black Lives Matter

With all the insanity going on right now, from COVID fears/uncertainties/lies/truths to black lives still being devalued, to surreal protests everywhere, I reflect on the value of human life. I especially think of the value of the lives of my three children, all of whom are black. I have prayed to feel how God feels about them, because I wanted to be able to tell them with absolute certainty that they are loved by a Father in Heaven. And that is the absolute truth! God has told me over, and over, and over again that He knows them. He loves them. He cherishes them. They are of eternal, divine worth. They are some of His truly noble spirits. He has a plan for their life. He knew them before they came to this earth, He made them exactly the way they are, and He sees them perfectly. This knowledge then gives me a firm belief that black lives matter. The lives of unborn babies matter. The lives of all persons of color matter. The lives of persons who believe differently or choose to live differently than I do matter. The lives of individuals with physical disabilities matter. Persons suffering from emotional health challenges or physical health trials matter.

I know that I will have to teach my children about others who don't think that. I will have to teach them about police brutality and how to stay safe in a unjust world. I will have to tell them that people will hate them because of the color of their beautiful God-given skin. I just pray that their knowledge of God loving them, no matter what, will supersede any other opinion or lie they will hear along the way. Yes, with absolute certainty, black lives matter.
